1. Why is this study being done?
Love Field has not had a new or updated master plan since prior to DFW's opening in January 1974. In response to changing market conditions, the City of Dallas needed to develop a plan for the
efficient operation and allocation of Love Field resources.
2. When will the study be completed?
The Master Plan will be completed for City review by March 30, 2001.
3. Within the scope of the study, is the city considering airport expansion and/or the addition of runways?
No, the airport boundaries will not change and no additional runways are envisioned.
4. Within the scope of the study, is the city considering the expansion and/or addition of terminal facilities?
No. The City's goal is the efficient and optimal use of existing terminal facilities
to accommodate current and future demand.
5. How will noise data collected by the City be used in this study?
Current and historical City noise data will be used to adjust current noise contours and
to establish an accurate baseline contour map.
6. Does the master plan include an environmental impact study?
No, this plan does not include a formal environmental impact statement (EIS). However, it will include an environmental overview to insure that the
environmental and community impacts associated with any proposed airport development options are properly identified and considered. After the master plan is adopted by the City, the FAA will determine if
and when an EIS needs to be done.
7. How will traffic impact be factored into the study recommendations?
The study will examine data on traffic loads on the streets surrounding Love Field,
as well as on key arterial streets that feed the airport. Alternative solutions
will be evaluated and recommendations will be made.
8. Will a “no growth” scenario be considered as an option?
Yes,
a no-build/no-action scenario will be evaluated.
